CONFIDENCE IN HARBOUR DEBENTURE ISSUE RUSH OF APPLICANTS Ample evidence that investors are quick to take advantage of opportunity to place their money on security was heard at. yesterday’s meeting of! the Harbour Board, when the treasurer reported that he had readily disposed of a further £50,000 worth of bh per cent, debentures. The issue was the tenth under the authority obtained in 1924. The treasurer said that there had been an excess of applications and many intending investors had been turned away. The expense of the issue had been only 4s a £IOO. Debentures had been taken up in sums ranging from £IOO to £3,000. The issue brings the total amount raised to £ 500.000, or half the total amount authorised. Of this threequarters of a million was for harbour works and £250,000 for redemption purposes.
