POWER FAILURE

FAULT DEVELOPS ON KING’S WHARF CARGO WORK DELAYED A fault in a feeder cable put the electric cranes on King’s Wharf out of action yesterday afternoon and evening. The unloading of the cargo of the steamer Sagama River, which arrived shortly after mid-day with phosphates from Nauru Island, was held up by the trouble which occurred early in the afternoon. The Maui Pomare, which was berthed at the same wharf, continued working under the power of her own winches, and none of the other wharves was seriously affected. Temporary provision for the lighting of the wharf was made in the evening, but by 9 o’clock the fault had been rectified.
