PROVISION SHOP GUTTED

( Sijccial to THE SL'F CHRISTCHURCH, Today. A provision store at the corner of Wairarapa Road and Jeffrey’s Road. Bryndwr, was gutted by fire on Sunday morning. The cause of the out break is not known. About £330 worth of stock was ; destroyed, and all the equipment and much of the interior fittings were burned. The brigade prevented the flames from spreading to a fiveroomed house attached to the shop and it escaped practically unharmed, except for slight damage by water. The property was owned by Mrs. J. G. Wood and was insured in the Royal Office for £9OO. The stock of the lessee, Mr. J. S. Wilson, who was in Ashburton at. the time of the outbreak. was insured, but was not fully covered.
