INSURING NEW ZEALAND'S UNEMPLOYED LABOUR PARTY MOVES Legislation in respect to unemployment insurance should be introduced to Parliament during the present session, urges the Labour Representation Committee of the Auckland Labour Party. At a meeting of the committee the following resolutions were carried: “This committee views with satisfaction the attitude of Parliament toward the progress of the Unemployed Workers Bill in sending that measure to the Labour Bills Committee, and urges the Government to pass it this session. Further, in view of the serious state of unemployment in New Zealand, we consider that this Bill should take precedence over all other measures before Parliament. In order that relief may be given to thousands of workers, we consider that the insurance clauses of this Bill should be given immediate effect to, and so avoid an unnecessary delay of 18 months, as suggested by the Minister of Justice.”
