N.Z. GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

MATCHES AT WANGANUI ENTRIES REACH RECORD Press Association WANGANUI, Monday. Record entries were received for the Xew Zealand golf championships to be played on the Wanganui Club’s links, beginning on September 26 and continuing until October 4. There are 70 professionals and amateurs with a national handicap of G and under entered in the open and amateur championships. With approximately 25 with national handicaps of 7 and over, and a limit of 72 competitors, this will mean a draw for the last two ol' the 72 places. The committee has decided to allow the other entrants to play provided they agree to start before 5.30 a.m. or after 11.30 a.m. If these plaj’ers have to start late in the morning their afternoon round will begin at about 3 p.m. Preference as to the time of starting for additional entrants will be given those with the lower handicaps. All who have entered are being circularised to this effect. The draw' for the open and amateur championships will take place on Thursday evening.
