AUCKLAND ROWING CLUB

SUCCESSFUL SEASON REVIEWED An increased membership and an excellent record of success on the competitive side were features of the past season”s activities of the Auckland Rowing - Club, according to the annual report which has just been issued. Special reference is made of the fact that last season marked the 60th anniversary of the founding of the club, a fact which made the success of the year’s work all the more gratifying. Despite the fact that the overdraft shows a slight increase for the season, the club’s financial position is regarded as very satisfactory. The purchase of practice fours and new oars formed the bulk of the expenditure. Regatta wins for the season totalled six firsts, six seconds and three A.R.A. championships. Donations accompanying these successes amounting to £52. which amount tops the list of the City clubs. Reference is made to the securing of a 14 years lease of a new club-house site from the Auckland Harbour Board at a nominal rental of £1 a year, and al-so to the success which attended the club's efforts to stimulate interest in eight oared inter-club racing on the Waitemata. It is hoped that last seasons’ succes will help to make this contest a feature of the sea-son’s activities.
