MODERN DRESS WEAKENS SELF-CONTROL

Cardinal Bourne, speaking at a Roman Catholic emancipation centenary meeting in the Albert Hall, said the Creator had bestowed upon men instincts and passions to use according to reason for the perpetuation of life. Some people desired to substitute self-gratification for self-control. Advocates of birth-control really condoned every form of self-indulgence within and without the married state. Painters, theatrical people and designers of women’s fashions had rendered self-control more difficult.
