Brooklyn, as the project has been styled, is being built for a company that has had considerable experience with flats in this city and will include several innovations of note. The astuteness of the architect’s design has made it possible for every flat, every room even, to receive direct lighting, and the position of the section gives a splendid view of the Waitemata both up and down the harbour. Tho building, which is Spanish in principle, will be finished in an imitation of Sydney freestone, but, to brighten an attractive facade, the centre bay will be finished in golden-brown bricks. the entrance are an attractive feature of the design. Inside the entrance is a large hall panelled in Queensland maple. A lift will carry residents to the upper floors. The flats, of which there are 52 of three, four and five rooms, include all possible convenience* 3 —even incinerators with rubbish trap-doors on each floor. On the lowest floor below the level of Emily Place are locker-rooms and a box-room and laundry. There is a frontage of 70 feet to Emily Place.
