NO MORE CHANCES
OLD OFFENDER SENT TO ROTO ROA There is such a thing as stretching magisterial patience too far, as Robert Raeburn Miller found when he was sent to Roto Roa Island for 12 months this morning. Miller had been repeatedly warned by Mr. F. K. Hunt,.S.M., that lie was qualifying for a term on the island. PRESCRIBED as a commercial Traveller, aged 34, Miller pleaded guilty .to charges of being disorderly, while drunk in Karangahape Road, and breaking the terms of his prohibition order. “This is the second time he has been drunk during the last six months,’’ remarked Sub-Inspector McCarthy. The Magistrate: Surely it's more than that. “He has been repeatedly before your Worship, and repeatedly threatened with the island,” added the subinspector. “Yes, he has had every chance,” agreed the magistrate, imposing sentence.
