ENTERTAINING VISITORS

“NICE TO MEET, BUT—” PAEROA CONSIDERS COST (Special to THE SUN) PAEROA, Friday. Divergent opinions were expressed by members of the Paeroa Borough Council last evening as to how the 60 Auckland business men should be received when they visit Paeroa on November 15. The Mayor, Mr. TV. Marshall, suggested extending the usual courtesies and said it would be necessary to provide motor transport for the visitors. “It will be very nice to have them here,” said Mr. E. -Edwards, “but it is not for private individuals to contribute to the cost.” Mr. J. Silcock described the tour as a move on the part of the Railway Department. He said he had had his car out for many similar functions, and he would not “joy-ride” this party. The Mayor's suggestion that Messrs. Bray, Hare and Flatt be appointed a committee to assist -in entertaining the party was adopted.
