AEOLIAN ORCHESTRA
NEXT CONCERT ON TUESDAY Another line programme has been arranged by the Aeolian Orchestra for the third concert of the 1929 season, which will be presented in the Lewis Eadv Hall on Tuesday next, September 17. In addition to items by the orchestra, the soloists will be Miss Berta Carr (vocal) and Miss Maida Hooker, A.R.C.M. (piano). Muriel Gardner is only 14 years old, but she has already been launched on a career that promises to be one of the most brilliant in the history of dancing. She is the featured dancer in “Fox Movietone Follies of 1929,” the big musical revue produced for the talking screen.
SUBURBAN THEATRES At the Prince Edward Theatre this evening the fine programme includes “The Heart of the Yukon” (John Bowers), “The Alley Cat,” and “The Giant of the Mountain,” all good pictures, also supports. The Grey Lynn Cinema is showing “The Woman From Lilna” (Mary Astor) and “Adam’s Apple” (Monte Blue). At the Parish Hall, Devonport, the films are “Hot Stuff” (Alice White in a college story) and “Wolves of the City,” an underworld drama, with an all-star cast. At the Foresters’ Hall, Birkenhead, the double picture programme includes “The Veiled Woman” (Lia Tora, in a tale of Paris) and “Wedding Bells” (Douglas Mac Lean).
