ARABS’ JEWISH VICTIMS
MUTILATION CHARGE NOT PROVEN REPORT OF COMMISSION (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) JERUSALEM, Thursday. The commission of doctors set up to investigate the charges against the Arabs implicated in the recent massacres of Jews has issued a report. This states that uo proofs of the mutilation of the victims were found in examinations of the exhumed bodies. At London, a deputation representing the council of the Zionist Organisation waited upon the Secretary of State for the Dominions and Colonies, Lord Passfield, and asked for assurances that peace would be maintained in Palestine. In reply, the Minister said there was no question of Britain giving up the mandate or departing from the policy of the Balfour Declaration. He expressed his appreciation of the practical achievements of the Jews in Palestine, which he said were beneficial both to the Jews and Arabs. However, Lord Passfield said he felt bound to state that development must depend upon the country’s power of absorption. The British Government realised that alterations in the arrangements for public security were necessary. It had sent out 100 constables, and was now enlisting 100 more. The future of Palestine depended upon the Jews and Arabs living side by side in peace and friendliness.
