OPEN BORDER WARFARE IN MANCHURIA STOUT CHINESE DEFENCE (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.45 a.m. SHANGHAI, Wed. Advices from the war zone report that valiant attempts are being made by the Chinese defence forces to save the city of Mohiin from the Soviet invaders, a large army of whom Is concentrating in the vicinity. The latest reports from Harbin state that all the communications to Pogranichnaya have been severed. The city is being reduced to ruins by continuous gunfire, Soviet bombers and field-guns. The town of Tungningbsien disappeared in flames. Tbex-e is undoubtedly open warfare along the border.
