WHITEBAIT REGULATIONS
CIRCULATED FOR APPROVAL (THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, "Wednesday. j Regulations to govern whitebait 1 fishing and to protect the fish have been sent out to all parties interested and will be completed when the views of those consulted have J been ascertained. Mr. W. H. Field (Otaki) asked the Minister of Marine, the Hon. J. GCobbe, whether the proposed white- j bait regulations had been finally ap- i proved; and, if not, whether he would j have them approved and gazetted without delay, so that they might operate during the balance of the ; season now begun. "Well-framed : regulations would give all licenceholders a chance of securing a fair 1 | share of the fish available, and at ! the same time allow a sufficient numj ber to escape the nets, thus to mature | and reproduce their species for further ■ supplies season by season. I The Minister replied that the draft < general regulations applying to white- ! bait fishing in all districts had been j sent out to all interested parties for ; their comment. Except in one case, j where the position was quit*> clear, it j seemed inadvisable to finalise the j regulations until the representations of i interested parties had been received and considered.
