DEPORTEE DISAPPEARS

NOT FOUND ON ULIMAROA AT SYDNEY MAN FROM NEW ZEALAND SYDNEY, Tuesday. Policemen were waiting on the Sydney wharf this morning with a warrant for the arrest of a man who was deported from New Zealand by the Ulimaroa. However, he was nowhere to be found.

Five policemen carried out an intensive search of the vessel, as it was believed he was concealed on board. This search proved fruitless. It is now believed that the deportee either slipped overboard from the stern of the ship while she was berthing or disappeared stealthily among the crowd on the wharf during the disembarkation of the passengers. The deportee mentioned in the above message no doubt is William Thomas Youlden. He was placed on board the Ulimaroa shortly before sailing time on Friday by Auckland detectives.
