STUDENT OF MAORIS
MR. H. E. HOLLAND’S INTEREST ETHNOLOGICAL APPOINTMENT (THE SEX'S Parliamentary ReporterJ PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Tues. The Leader of the Labour Party, Mr. H. E. Holland, will be appointed a member of the Maori Ethnological Board, according to the Minister of Native Affairs, Sir Apirana Ngata. in the House of Representatives today. Sir Apirana said that Mr. Holland had taken a keen interest in Maori life and development, and his services should be of considerable value. Mr. Holland thanked the Minister for his intimation, adding that he would be glad to accept the association offered him. The board, he considered, was carrying out a very valuable work. Mr. Holland suggested that Sir Apirana Ngata’s own book on Maori songs should be translated into English. The Minister stated there were difficulties in the way of obtaining accurate and at the same time artistic translations.
