PILLION RIDING TRIAL
CONTEST FOR MOTOR-CYCLISTS LAST SUNDAY’S TEST The first pillion trial to be organised in Auckland was run by the ; North Shore Motor-Cycle Club over an SO-mile course to Helensville last i Sunday. A large gathering of riders attended . the start from the Burns Statue. The ; route led via Great North Road to Henderson, Swanson, Kumeu, Ilelonsville, and return via Kumeu, Rivcrliead, Albany and Birkenhead. A secret check stationed at Swanson caught a few riders ahead of time, j and a braking test was held on Wuij mauku Hill, where all riders recorded ; good performances. The riders spent an enjoyable time ’ i bathing and lunching at Helensville ; I before starting on the return journey. | During the whole run there were no i failures or spills, which fact speaks I for itself in support of pillion riding. , The general opinion of competitors i was that the run was attended with j every success, and was enjoyed by all. !
