OVERSEAS LEAGUE HOLDS ENJOYABLE BRIDGE EVENING

ROOMS BRIGHT WITH FLOWERS The Overseas League held an enjoyable bridge evening in the Belmonieo Cafe yesterday. The rooms \yere gay with bowls of arum lilies, bright Iceland popples and tall sprays of soft pussy-willow. The guests were received by’ Miss Quayle and Airs. R. G. Coats. Aliss Quayle had on a smart cloth of silver gown and Airs. Coats was in black georgette with black satin bridge coat, fur trimmed. An energetic committee comprised Aliss de Burgh Pitman, who had on a satin frock of deep capucine shade; Aliss Early, in a black and parchment tinted georgette gown; and the two Aliases Ivissling, who were both smartly gowned in black. Noticed among the players were:—Airs. Gore Martin. Airs. Newton King, Airs. W. A. Gunn, Airs. Clayton Sydney, Airs. Sutherland, Airs. Featherston, Aliss AleLyraont, Aliss Kirker, Aliss Cook. Airs. Stewart and Aliss Stewart, Aliss Dorothy Smith, Aliss Young, Aliss Tatton, Airs. Wilson, Airs. Alaxwell, Airs. Christmas, Aliss Brown, Aliss Swan, Airs. Woodhead, Aliss Ross, Aliss Major, Aliss AlcLeay, Airs. AY. Kenderdine, Aliss Gore Alartin, and Aliss Orchiston. AN ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Gwenneth, only daughter of Air. and Airs. R. E. Rudman. of Mount Eden, to Mr. S. N. Shires, of Retaruke, Wanganui River.
