At the monthly meeting of the Opotiki branch of nhe New Zealand Farmers’ Union it was decided to write a letter to the Postmaster-Gen-eral protesting against the abolition of tho C.O.D. system. The Minister of Public Works* is investigating a request by the union that an amount be, placed on the supplementary estimates for the construction of a new road through the Waimana Gorge to replace the present highway, which will be used as a route lor the railway when the dine is built to ypotiki. A remit will bo sent to the next sub-provincial conference urging that the Government should establish a hospital for Maoris in the Bay of Plenty, or should contribute toward the cost of treatment of Maoris in hospitals.

It was decided to ask the Agricultural Department to experiment in grassing the different classes of country, being, first-class land, secondclass land, bush and drained swamp.

It was suggested that a sample of infected South Island oats bo forwarded to Wellington for investigation. It* the pest is actually tho weevil, as is feared, it will prove serious to the Bay of Plenty maize-growing industry.
