BASKETBALL AFFAIRS
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION MEETS The fortnightly meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Basketball Association was held in the Y.W.C.A. on Tuesday last, the president, Miss F. Lee, being in the i chair. It was decided to hold the handicap j knock-out tournament on Saturday, j September 14, and Saturday, Septem- ! ber 21, as a close to the season. The i manager of tho representative team, j Miss F. Lee, gave an account of j matches and business carried on in . Christchurch. At the meeting of the , New Zealand Council, to which Misses j Lee and Wigmore were delegates, sev- ; eral remits were passed. It was de- i cided to hold a New Zealand tourna- i ment every alternate year, and that j the team holding the cup should be open to challenge by any other team during the year in which the tournament is not held. The remit abolishing the throw-up in the centre was passed, the council deciding that the side not scoring the goal should be given a guarded pass from the centre. The captain, Miss J. Mueller, and the manager, Miss Lee, of the representative team, were both congratulated on the showing of the team in Christchurch. the manager paying a tribute to the girls who were under her care. Miss Mueller was congratulated on winning the prize presented by Dr. Thacker for the most outstanding player in the tournament.
