PETER BINGEN’S OFFSPRING

A MONG the entrants for the 1931 New Zealand Derby are some by the last New Zealand Cup and Free-for-All winner, Peter Bingen. One of these is a colt from Muriel Dillon, dam of Diiworth, owned by Mr. L. Williams. A colt from a Harold Dillon mare is owned by Miss N. C. Mason, while the other is from Mr. E. X. Le Lievre’s American imported mare Unique, by Daystar, 2.5, by Peter the Great It is a remarkable fact that all of Peter Bingen’s get to date are chestnut in colour. When asked the reason of this, Mr. Le Lievre explained that the Baron Wilkes line is predominating in the stock of Peter Bingen, whose sire’s dam. Susette Baron, was by Baron Wilkes. This family, which includes Peterwah, is noted for its chestnuts.
