CELEBRATION OF UNION OF CHURCHES ANNIVERSARY ON OCTOBER Recommendations for the fitting | celebration in Auckland of the unigr. of the Churches of Scotland, which is ; to be consummated in Edinburgh on ; October 2, were submitted by the Rev. j L. H. Hunt at the monthly meeting of the Auckland Presbytery held yesterdav and presided over by the moder- i ! ator, the Rev. W. D. Morrison-Suther- j ' land. It was agreed to hold a celebration in St. David’s Church on October 2. The meeting decided to associate the Rev. A. MacDonald with the Rev. D. D. i Rodger as official visitor to the hospii tab • The Presbytery agreed to endorse | the proposal from Belmont congrega- ! tion that it be raised to the status of | a self-supporting charge with the ! Rev. S. J. Atkins as moderator, j A statement was received the I 1 Assembly treasurer. Mr. V. G. Cun* ! ningham, showing that for the 3 T ear j ending June 30 last the sum of £4.150 j was expected from the Auckland j j Presbytery as its contributions to the i funds of the Church. This sum was i an irreducible minimum, but the total received was £3.843, or £307 short j A sum of £1,690 was required from! j the Presbytery before the. end of next ! October. Mr. Chapman asked that j i steps be taken to bring the serious- j ! ness of the position before congrega--1 tion?. For the year 1929-1930. a total !of £36.548 was required from the j whole Church, of wh: / bland was j ‘expected to provide £4,350.
