POTATO MARKET WEAK
FURTHER DECLINE IN PRICES Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The potato market is very weak. Since Saturday another drop of 10s a ton has to be recorded. September deliveries were quoted at the -week-end at £7 a. ton, f.0.b., s.i., and today at £6 10s. It s expected that the Katoa will sail tomorrow. and the Kurow on Saturday. The Waiptata will also be lifting produce on that day. The three boats are not expected to take more than 6,000 to 8,000 'neks from all Southern ports. There is some opinion that once the present Auckland glut is overcome there will be a sharp recovery. Another theory is rhat it is now too late in the season for any marked recovery. Oats are firm. A Cartons have been sold at 3s lOd, f.0.b., s.i., and B grade at 3s 9d. There are few lines of white oats offering. Algerians have come into the picture in the last week or two, both for spring seed and feed, and sales have been made at 3s 4d to Cs sid, f.0.b., The wheat business is quiet but firm. Tool wheat is quoted at 6s sd, f.0.b.. s.i.. for Tuscan, a slight increase since the commencement of the month. LONDON METAL VALUES (A ustralian cr.d X.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Monday.
