ROBERT FRANCIS SUTHERLAND
The death is announced in Christchurch of Mr. Itobert Francis Sutherland, aged 40, an accountant and formerly secretary of St. Andrew’s College. MR. G. C. MILLER The death occurred at Pahiatua last evening of Gerard Champion Miller, for many years town clerk. He was also secretary to the Fire Board and agent of the Public Trust Office. He had been confined to bed for several ( weeks. His wife has been an inmate of the Pahiatua Hospital for some months past. He leaves a daughter and a son.—P.A. MR. J. H. CLAYTON Mr. James Henry Clayton has died at Tauranga at the age of 78. He was well-known in the journalistic world, and at the time of his death was one of the oldest men in his profession in New Zealand. For many years Mr. Clayton was proprietor and editor of the “Egmont Post” at Stratford, and of recent years was connected with many provincial papers in the North Island.;; —P.A. MR. GEORGE HOSKING The death of Mr. George Ho skin g occurred yesterday at his residence, Kolmar Road, Papatoetoe, in his 57th year. Born in Devonshire, England, he was the second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. "William Hosking, of Newton Abbott. Mr. Hosking was a successful farmer in England before coming to the Dominion 19 years ago, where he was a well-known farmer at Runciman. Gordonton and Orini. He retired some nine years ago and has lived in Papatoetoe where he has taken a keen interest in public affairs, being a prominent member of the Papatoetoe Bowling Club. Town Board and honorary member of the Papatoetoe Fire Brigade. He is survived by his widow, two sons and a daughter. The funeral will take place at the Anglican cemetery, Otahuhu, tomorrow.
