SOUTHERN TAXI “WAR”
CHRISTCHURCH FARES FALL (Special to THE SUN) CHRISTCHURCH, Today. With the advent of the Gold Band taxis in Christchurch a taxi “war” is raging from which the public is reaping the benefit. The Gold Band Company charges greatly reduced fares and many other companies have been compelled to reduce their charges. Recently the private taxi-drivers joined in and formed a concern named the Blue Star taxis. Their scale of fares, they claim, is the lowest yet, and it is understood that many of the old-established firms are considering reorganising their systems to cope with the competition.
