SOUTHLAND TEAM RETURNS HOME GREETED IN CHRISTCHURCH Press Association CHRISTCHURCH. Today. Cheering crowds gathered at the Christchurch railway station this morning to congratulate the Southland Rugby team, the holder of the Ranfurly Shield, and the Southland women’s hockey team, the holder of the K Cup, on their way to Invercargill. Mr. T. B. Lennie, on behalf of the Southlanders’ Association of Canterbury, and Mr. J. O. McGillivray, of the Canterbury Rugby Union, spoke heartily congratulating the players gn their success.
