NORTHCOTE TELEPHONES
DIRECT CONNECTION MADE WITH CITY POSTMASTER-GENERAL’S STATEMENT That Northcote telephone subscribers would shortly be provided with direct communication with the City was announced by the Hon. J. B. Donald, Postmaster-General, at the official opening of the new post office at Northcote yesterday afternoon. The Minister reminded those present that on a previous occasion he did not think it right that subscribers should be charged toll charges for communication with the City. The inquiries by his departmental officers for a suitable cable to make the connection were about completed, and he would soon be in a position to make a definite pronouncement on the subject. He advocated as good business the making of similar links in other centres.
