PLAZA
LAST DAYS OF “REDSKIN” The two greatest improvements of the decade in the motion picture industry—sound and colour—are vividly brought out in“• Redskin,” the Paramount sound picture starring Richard Dix, which will be shown at the Plaza Theatre for only a few more days. The entire picture is produced in rich technicolour, showing the natural beauties of the Grand Canyon country in Arizona. “Redskin” is superbly synchronised with a brilliant music score played by the Paramount orchestra of 75 pieces. Miss Helen Clarke. H.M.V. recording artist, also sings the theme song, “Redskin.” three times. The chanting of the old Indian rituals, as well as the Red Indian war cries and other sound effects are heard in “Redskin.” Gladys Belmont plays opposite Richard Dix in the sound picture. The talking programme includes a number of most enjoyable short talkie features, headed by the comedy, “The Bookworm,” by Harry T. Conley. A tuneful scena is “Visions of Spain.’ in which Sam Ash sings and Lina Basauette dances. Ohman and Arden are two young men who play the piano very well, Bob MacGregor is a Scottish singer and raconteur, and the overture, “Raymond,” is played by the Vitaphone Symphony Orchestra. On Thursday the Plaza will present an entirely new sound programme, head by the all-talking picture, “The Home Towners.” “The Home Towners, the Warner Brothers’ all-star film, is really an unusual picture, because it is the work of George M. Cohan, one of the greatest artists in character drawing and plav-making the world has produced. For the making of “The Home Towners,” Warner Brothers have assembled an unusual all-star cast, every member of which has had both stage and screen experience. The roster includes Richard Bennett. Doris Kenvon, Robert McWade, Robert Edeson, Glad vs Brock well, John Miljan. \ era ; Lewis. Stanley Taylor, James T. Mack and Patricia Caron. Bryan Foy directed.
