MALAYAN CLIMATE IS MONOTONOUS AUCKLAND SURVEYOR RETURNS “The climate of the Malay States is very monotonous., and there is little difference between winter and summer. The temperature stays at about S 5 degrees all the year round. ' So said Mr. G. L. Jerram, a surveyor. of Auckland, who has been in the Malay States for the past four years, and who was a passenger for Auckland by the Makura this morning. He was accompanied by Mr. J. W. Jolly, of Sydney, who is also a surveyor in the Malay States. “A number of people haye the idea that the climate is bad,’*- said Mr. Jerram, “but on the contrary, it is quite healthy, though the monotony of the temperature does wear one out. Beyond fever in some districts it is perfectly healthy. “New Zealanders have an excellent name over there,” he said. “I have met numbers of them —in fact, *the place is full of them.” Mr. Jerram. who received his early training in the surveying profession in Auckland and Hamilton, will return to Malaya for a further term of four years at the conclusion of his furlough.
