Donald, PostmasterGe&eral. arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. A. A. Mailey. the Australian cricketer, is travelling on the Aorangi en route to Australia. Mr. E. B. McDonald, manager of the Bank of New South Wales. Karangahape Road, is progressing favourably, after his serious illness. Pr McDiarmid, medical superintendent of the Tauranga Hospital, has been granted nine months’ leave of absence. He intends to make a trip to England. Mr. H. S. W. King, president of the Zealand Technical Education Association, will leave for Wellington today, to attend the annual conference of tho association. Mr. V. G. Webb, assistant marine superintendent, and Mr. It. G. Gillies, engineering superintendent of the Union Steam Ship Company, arrived by the Limited today. Mr. J. M. Eccles, secretary of the Rangitaiki Plains Co-operative Dairy Company. Whakatane, left by the Uliraaroa for Australia yesterday. lie is accompanied by Mrs. Eocles. Messrs. H. R. Jenkins. J. S. Fletcher, 11. M. Rushworth. H. G. R. Mason, J. N. Massey. W. J. Jordan, M. J. Savage, and A. M. Samuel, M.P.’s, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Sir John Butters, Chief Commissioner of the Federal Capital Terrivory, who will shortly retire from the Commonwealth service, has been appointed director of Australian Benzol and Coal Distillation, Limited.—P.A. Mr. Alexander Paul, sub-manager at Wellington of the Bank of New South Wales, will retire on superannuation at the end of this month, after more tian 50 years’ service with his bank. Ha will be succeeded by Mr. P. E. J. Kbsworth, from the Adelaide branch ot the Bank of New South Wales. Mr. Thomas Hutchison, a former stipendiary magistrate, has died in Oaraaru at the ago of 7G. The late Mr. Hutchison was born in Dunedin, Scotland, and came to New Zealand in the early ’sixties, landing at Auckland.
