Delightful Dance Part}/ Mrs. Carlton Hay Entertains Mrs. Carlton Hay was hostess at a charmingly arranged dance at her residence, Carlton Gore Road, on Thursday evening. Tho rooms were adorned with a profusion of lovely spring flowers in shaded tones. A smart frock of black georgette panelled with silver lace was worn bv Mrs. Hay. Miss S. Hay’s frock was ring velvet and georgette, and Miss M. Hay was in golden lace mounted on charmeuse. Among the guests were: Miss Marjorie Dryden, wearing a picfeta HPonica pink chiffon tafMiss Freda Suter had on a chic black and white velvet and georgette frock. Mrs Dene Plummer’s frock was in tones of almond green with beaded design. Miss P. White, of Dunedin, was in ivory taffeta. Miss B. Goldie wore lettuce green georgette with befrilled skirt. Miss Barbara Pierce was frocked in patterned taffeta. Miss Beth Stokes chose a dainty frock of pompadour pink georgette, declfi tevenson wore sunset pink crepe Miss Beverley TTorrocks had on ivory georgette with silver faconne. Miss M. Jackson was in marigold ninon smartened with apple green french bow. Miss B. McCormick’s frock was white embossed georgette. Miss Colson was in gold lace over satin. Miss L. Roberton was frocked in azure blue georgette. Miss Gwen Kingston was wearing pastel pink and silver. Miss J. Hudson was in lavender georgette appliqued in delicate tones. Miss Oushla Rainger wore apple green and silver. Miss Rona Rainger was in lettuce green georgette. Miss X. Howden, Waiuku, wore vermilion red georgette. Miss M. Kirker’s frock was capucine ninon beaded in silver. Miss Joan Cousins chose a georgette and tulle frock in tones of larkspur blue. Miss Cook’s frock was duchess blue charmeuse and tulle.

LEAGUE OF MOTHERS ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the League of Mothers, Auckland Branch, was held in the Y.W.C.A. on Thursday, Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell presiding. The report showed a year of progress. There are now 30 branches, five new ones being formed during the year. The membership now stands at 1,293. The delegates elected to attend the Dominion Conference, to be held at Government. House, Wellington, on October S, were Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell and Miss A. M. Arey. Tho following officers for the ensuing year were elected: —Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell, president; Miss A. M. Arey, secretary; Mrs. A. G. Talbot, Mrs. A. M. Ferguson, Mrs. P. A. Lindsay, Mrs. J. W. Williamson, vice-presi-dents; Mesdames M. Benfell, John Cook, G. TI. Fleming, J. Hiddleston, Miss E. Robertson, executive committee: Mrs. S. O. English, treasurer; Mrs. C. H. Turner, assistant secretary; Miss H. Turner, magazine secretary; Lady Elliott, librarian. SOCIAL EVENING MT. WELLINGTON RUGBY LEAGUE ENTERTAINS There was a large attendance of members and supporters of the Mount Wellington Rugby League Football Club at a social evening, held in the Otahuhu Public Hall on Monday evening. An enjoyable programme of musical items was provided by Miss Doris Messer, vocal solo and humorous items; Mr. Rex Yates, some humour; Mr. J. Smithson, entertainer; Mr. J. Calvert, tenor solo; Mr. T. Baker, baritone. Later on the guests danced to the strains of Morrow’s Orchestra. Messrs. G. Bentley and J. Gillies fulfilled the duties of M.C.’s.
