STREET COLLECTION REALISES £875 BUILDING CAN PROCEED Erection of the children's new sunshine school and solarium cau now be proceeded with immediately, the estimated cost of £2,000 being practically iu hand. The sum of £S7S of the £I.OOO aimed at was raised in the street collection in the City and suburbs, conducted by the Auckland Community Sunshine Association, yesterday. The proceeds are expected to be increased to £9OO when all returns are completed. Half the cost of the building has been generously provided by the trustees of the Auckland Savings Bank. Although the cost of the building is in sight, the association would welcome further contributions toward equipment. Mrs. N. E. Ferner, president of the association, is very grateful for the liberal manner in which the public subscribed to the street collection. She also warmly praises the splendid and willing service of the collectors, some of whom were on duty for 12 hours at the stands yesterday. ST. JOHN RECEIVES £1,540 St. John Ambulance Association has received a net return of £1,540 from the. recent street collection and donations. The sum of £1,049 was realised by the collection, and donations amounted to £551. Expenses totalled £6O. The general committee hoped to have the sum increased to £1,600.
