CONCERT CHAMBER, SEPT. 19 A series of evenings with poetry. sons and drama will be given in tlie concert chamber on September 19, 20 and 21 by Dennis Barry, the romantic English actor-singer. Mr. Barry has recently concluded a long season with the Allan Wilkie Shakespearian Company and while spending a short holiday in Xew Zealand was prevailed on by his friends to give these recitals. In this way lie will bring to Auckland some of the finest examples of English literature—romantic, dramatic, humorous—also the songs of Shakespeare, folk-songs and ballads. The "Liverpool Echo” said of him recently: “It is not 100 much to say that Dennis Barry is as sound an actor as there is on the stage today.” Miss Margot St. Lawrence Toner, accompanist and solo pianist, will also appear. The box plan is open at Lewis Eady, Ltd. Concessions will be given for students in parties of ten or more. A matinee lias been arranged for September 21 at 2.30 p.m. A notable cast has been assembled to take the various characters in Owen Wister’s well-known novel, “The Virginian.” which is being produced as a Paramount all-talking picture. Gary Cooper has the leading role as the Virginian.
