RIFLE SHOOTING
PAEROA MINIATURE CLUB SECOND TEAMS’ MATCH (From Our own Correspondent) PAEROA, Friday. Great interest was displayed on Wednesday evening in the local drill hall when the Paeroa Defence Miniature Rifle Club staged the second teams’ match, with a good attendance of members. The shooting was of a high standard throughout. The teams were captained by Captain IT. Simmonds, A. A. Jenkinson, W. A. Reid, and R. I. Wells, the conditions being the same as last match—seven shots and one sighter, with each captain to coach his own team.The finishing positions of the teams were in doubt right to the firing of the last shot. Eventually R. I. Wells’s team, with a total of 341 out of a possible 350, won by a small margin oi three points from W. A. Reid’s team. During the shooting, possibles were registered by Captain El. Simmonds, E. Turton, sen., and R. I. Wells. The scoring was as follows: No. 4 Team.—R. I. Wells, 70; H. V.
Cocks', 69: A. Goldsworthy, 66; R. W. Roberts, 68; M. Simmond?, 6S—total, 341. No. 3 Team.—W. A. Reid. 66; M. Charlesworth, 6S; E. Mead, 69: A. Simmonds, 65; E. Turton, sen., 70—total. 338. No. 3 Team. —A. A. Jenkinson, 68: A. Coxhead, 58: D. Currie, 69; F. Patterson. 6S; H. I. Roberts. 67—total. 330. No. 1 Team.—Captain H. Simmonds, 70; A. Mellor, 68: C. Miller, 60; 11. A. Morrison, 65; E. Turton, jun., 60—total, 323.
Next Wednesday evening the club will hold a trophy shoot lor a trophy donated by Mr. A. Coxhead.
