SUN COMMERCIAL SERVICE
A SPECIAL section devoted to answers to readers on financial and commercial questions, is included in these columns each Saturday. While every effort Is made to ensure accuracy in every instance, no responsibility can be taken for the information given. All queries should be addressed to the Commercial Editor, THE SUN. “Whaling'* (Dunedin): No, we certainly think you could find a better outlet for your money There are several reasons for such a contention, but the principal one is that the concern appears as if it will start off under the handicap of over-capitalisation. For a start, it seems as if the vendor company is getting too much. Again, there is no record of an independent estimate of the value of the assets. “Brew” (Glen Eden): There is a considerable diversity of opinion in financial circles regarding the future prospects of the company. Undoubtedly, it has extensive hidden assets. On account of these it is hard to give a definite opinion. We certainly do not see any reason for believing that the market will show any big rise in the near future; our investigations lead us to believe that the reverse might be the case and that a slight weakening would not be unexpected. We think it is a case for individual judgment. If you like the shares as an investment, by all means take them up; if you are uneasy get out while you are assured of a good market. There are several other just as attractive investments (we would be inclined to say more attractive), offering the same rate of interest.
