JUNIOR REP. MATCH AUCKLAND’S EASY WIN The interprovincial tourney between ( secondary school representatives from Auckland and Wellington concluded at Blandford Park yesterday afternoon, when the Auckland junior representatives proved too good for Wellington boys, and won comfortably after a fast and sparkling game, by six goals The teams were; Wellington.—Longstafl' (W. College), McLune (W. College), Bilwer (Technical), Halstead (Technical). Benfield (Technical). Vanev (St. Patrick’s), Mackie (Rongotai), Yoeman (Rangotai), Dyer (Technical), McDermott (St. Patrick’s), Scott (Technical). Auckland. McDevitt (Takapuna), Carmichael (Auckland Grammar), Couldrey (Mount Albert), Miller (Mount Albert), Graham (Kowhai), Yarnton (Takapuna), Flyger (Technical), Angus (Mount Albert), Grant (Mount Albert), Dixon (Auckland Grammar). Following even exchanges, Auckland attacked, and Angus drove hard or Longstaif to corner. With Auckland still pressing, Dixon centred. and Angus goaled from 15yds. Wellington then took a hand with a j number of good combined movements, j but its finishing was very weak. Angus j then made a solo effort for Auckland ' and, after dribbling through the op- i posing defenders, scored again. Ten ; minutes later the Auckland forwards ! were again through, and Dixon crossed ' splendidly for Yarnton to run up and ; net. Half-time: Auckland i 3 Wellington 0 I The Southerners started off more promisingly in the second half, but despite the heavy pressure exerted on the Auckland defence, the same lack of finish prevented their scoring. An Auckland attack saw Flyger augment his side’s score with a good shot, and a minute later Dixon sjjred from well out on the right wing. Wellington at j last replied, when McDermott beat Mci Devitt with what looked to be an easy | high shot. Shortly before time, Dixon j manoeuvred nicely to supply Grant ! with a pass which the latter converted j nicely, j Final: Auckland 6 Wellington 1
