TO CHURCH AND THEN TO BUSINESS!
A pretty story comes from America, | concerning Mr. “Bobby” Jones and A. Kspinosa, who tied \ for the United ; States open cham- i pionship. The | play-off was on \ Sunday, and a big crowd of New York golfers waited for nearly an hour on the first tee at Mamaroneck before the two players put in an appearance, knew the reason of
the delay. It appears that at 9 a.m. Mr. Jones met Espinosa in the lounge of his hotel. “Golly, I’m glad I ran into you,” said. Mr. Jones, “because I have to take Mrs. Jones to church, and I did not want to keep you waiting on the tee.” “That's quite all right, Bobby,” replied Espinosa, “because it happens that I am going to church with Mrs. Espinosa, and I would have been late myself.” Both players then went off to attend Sunday morning service, returning later arm-in-arm to the first tee to commence the all-day struggle for the championship. A. nice gesture between amateur and professional.
