AMUSEMENTS. A F tillerHayward Theatre. Three Sessions Daily--11 a.m., 2.30 8 p.m. THREE IDENTICAL DE LUXE SESSIONS: 11 THE SPEAKING SCREEN’S FINEST EXAMPLE OF A SPECTACULAR ROMANCE, WITH INTRiGUE AND ADVENTURE. qk BUCK WATCH The story of a passionate romance that blares from the screen—with its central figures a beautiful woman —inflamed with power—whose domination of her followers makes of them abject slaves —and of a man—hero and gentleman, who had sworn to strip her of her strength, but succumbed—for a few unforgettable moments—to her charms and allure. ALL TALKING FOX MOVIETONE FEATURE Adapted from Talbot Mundy’s Novel, “King of the Khyber Rifles.” VICTOR MIACIEN AND EVERY MEMBER OF THE FORMIDABLE CAST SPEAKS PERFECT ENGLISH. THE CHARACTERS ACTUALLY LIVE ROY D’ARCY, DAVID ROLLINS, CYRIL CHADWICK, RICHARD TRAVERS, LUMSDEN HARE, MYRNA LOY, DAVID TORRENCE, WALTER LANG, FRANCIS FORD, MITCHELL LEWIS. Officers’ Mess of the 42nd Highlanders; Waterloo Station in London; an Indian town close to the Northern Border; a minaret with devout Mohammedans at prayer while a Muezzin sings the call from the balcony; Khyber Pass —the backdoor of India —the Valley of Sudden-death; the village of Khinjan in the rugged fastness of Khyber; the East Indian Dancers in the Caves of the Echoes, inciting the fanatics. An interesting sidelight on the production is the music. An excellent bagpipe band entertains in one sequence while in others there are old folks tunes and a Moslem prayer’s song. Joseph Diskay, the Hungarian baritone, and David Percy, tenor, are the singers, and very effective, too. IN ADDITION, TALKING AND SINGING FEATURETTES.
