"BEST IN AUSTRALASIA"
AUCKLAND COURSING CLUB'S PLUMFTON TRAINED HARES ACQUIRED "The Auckland Coursing Club's ground is the best I have ever been on.” This opinion was expressed by a member of the club at last evening’s meeting held in the Cabin Tea Rooms. He had had -5 years of coursing experience in both Australia and New Zealand and considered that the local plumpton was far better than Australia’s best, the Rotty Hill course near Sydney. The president of the club. Mr. F. McConnell, stated that for length, width and smoothness the club's course was excellentThe club s patron. Mr. T. Richards, pointed out that the president and secretary. Mr. W. R. Arnold, had negotiated with the Frankton Coursing Club and had acquired 20 trained hares for the Auckland Club's next meeting. That was a good start toward the number required and in order to make up the full complement a. drive is to be held at Hamilton next Sunday. He hoped members would j turn up in force so that the drive would be a success. Mr. R ... bers to "boost” the club's activities. He quoted the New Plymouth Coursing Club’s methods as an example of the manner in which to bring the local club to the fore. He hoped that members would endeavour to increase the membership and counselled them to get their dogs roady for the meetThree committeemen had resigned, and Messrs. E. G. Yearbury, IT. Smith and A. Durno were elected in their places. It is hoped to hold the club’s meeting on September 28 and 30, and confidence was expressed that the club would be able to stage two or three meetings next season. A vote of thanks was accorded Messrs. McConnell and Arnold for their indefatigable efforts for the club’s success. The plumpton is situated on the centre of the Otahuhu Trotting Club’s track at Mangere Crossing.
