MORE MONKEYS FOR ZOO
By the end of the year the monkey population at the Auckland Municipal Zoo is expected to be increased by 110 animals. The City Council is negotiating with Eastern dealers for the purchase of additional exhibits, and 60 monkeys are lo be shipped from Calcutta and 50 are to be sent from Singapore. The mortality rate in Auckland is fairly high, and it is necessary to restock from time to time. However, a large proportion of the new purchase will be over and above the number required for replacements. i
