TAX ON GREASY WOOL
NOT SCOURED BEFORE EXPORT DEPUTATION’S REQUEST Press Association WELLINGTON’, Thursday, request that the Government should impose an export tax on all sheepskins shipped in wool and on all scouring wools shipped greasy or. alternatively. that an embargo should be placed on the export of such commodities was made to Sir Joseph Ward today, ihe Minister of Education and Minister of Customs, by a deputation. representing the fellmongery and wool-scouring industry. Sir Joseph Ward replied that the matter was a very difficult one, but worthy of the fullest investigation. If an export tax were applied it would have . to be general in application. He confessed he did not know enough about the matter to give a definite reply, but promised to have it thoroughly investigated.
