PUPILS SOCIAL CLUB

ENJOYABLE RECITAL The pupils of Dr. E. W. HillsdonHutton entertained a large gathering of parents and friends recently in the Gas Company’s Social Hall, Otahuhu. A very enjoyable evening was spent in music, song and story. A feature of the evening was the first appearance of the Hawaiian Band, comprising seventeen pupils in costume. An enjoyable programme of dance numbers was provided by the club’s orchestra, and items were contributed by Phyllis Webber, pianoforte solo; Phyllis and Jessie Webber, pianoforte duet: Marie Warren, violin solo: Miss Daisy Moss, pianoforte solo: Mr. Len Reid, Hawaiian guitar solo; Miss Lynda Davidson, elocutionary item; Misses Mildred Terrill, Jessie Webber and Dr. Hillsdon Hutton, pianoforte trio; Mr. T. Faithful, tenor banjo solo; Miss Mildred Terrill, pianoforte solo; Mrs. Hardman, mandolin solo; Mr. Den Pope, violin solo; Miss Jessie Webber, pianoforte solo: Dr. Hillsdon-Hutton, pianoforte solo; Mr. J. Handisides. violin soIo-“HARD-UP” EVENING OTAHUHU HOLY TRINITY SOCIAL CLUB A large number of members and friends of the Otahuhu Holy Trinity Social Club attended the annual “hard up” evening, held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday evening. The dance music was supplied by the club s orchestra, under the leadership of Mrs. F. Andrev/. The prizes for the* best costume? were won by Mrs. Mouton and Mr. I. De Montalk. Mr. H. Hall was master of ceremonies. Keen interest was taken ir. the card tournament, and the successful competitors were Mrs. C. R. Waddell and Mr. E. Wagsuff.
