FIRE AT ROTOWARO

DESTRUCTION OF HOUSE (From Our Own Correspondent) HUNTLY, Wednesday. Fire destroyed the three-roomed residence of Mr. Gavin Scurr at Rotowaro on Sunday morning. Nothing was saved. A visitor, Mr. Wm. Clout, had just left the house when he noticed smoke emerging from the roof. He promptly gave the alarm and an endeavour was made to locate the seat of the fire, but by the time some weatherboards had been ripped off the fire had burst out, completely blocking all entrances to the house. Included in the contents destroyed was the sum of £65 in cash. There had not been a fire in the building since Friday and the outbreak is believed to have been caused by the electrical equipment. Mr. and Mrs. Scurr are both heavy losers. The house and contents were insured for £250 in the Royal Office.
