AMATEUR PRODUCTION DRAWS CROWDS

ANOTHER PACKED HOUSE Packed houses are nightly greeting the appearance this week of the Amateur Operatic Societj’ in the two-act musical comedy play, “Florodora,” which commenced its season at His Ma jesty's Theatre last week, and which will show until Saturday evening next. One of the outstanding features of the production is the manner in which the ensemble work is performed, and the way in which the chorus executes its performance, the “Tell Me Pretty Maiden” sextette, with the English Girls, and the “Fellow Who Might.” capturing great applause last evening. The principals are well suited to their parts. Miss Verna Wisliart being admirably cast in the role of Dolores, the winsome heroine. Her vocal numbers gained her enthusiastic approval. She plays opposite Mr. Ernest Snell as the hero of the piece, who sings easily and capably. Much of the humour depends upon Professor Tweedlepunch (Mr. G. C. Lyttelton), who keeps the house rocking with laughter when he is on the stage. The whole production is a credit to the Operatic Society, and the manner in which the public is responding shows a lively appreciation of this talent. The orchestra, under the baton of Mi. Colin Muston, is an essential part of the successful production.
