MAY RETURN

rpHERE is a chance that Henri A- Verbrugghen, now conductor of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra. will come to Australia on a brief holiday visit next May or June. It was Verbrugghen who conducted the New South Wales State Orchestra on its tour of New Zealand some years ago. He has recently had a Doctorate of Music conferred upon him by the Uni-

HENRI VERBRUGGHEN versity of Chicago. The purpose of his return to Australia is to visit a son who is farming in the northern part of New South Wales. It is already planned in Sydney that Verbrugghen shall be invited to conduct several orchestral concerts during his stay. Mr. Edward Goil, a Melbourne pianist, who recently toured America with Verbrugghen and his orchestra, hopes to prevail on him also to bring to Australia the string quartet which he leads.
