i ANNUAL MEETING 1 There was a fair attendance at the I annual meeting of the Te Aroha I Jockey Club, members being present ! from Matamuta and Morrinsvilie. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet. Mr. R. L. Somers, ’ i the president, referred to the satisfac- | tory .state of the club's finances, the profit for the year being greater by £3l*7 IDs _'d than last year's. The club was one of the most prosperous in the North Island. The speaker referred to the fact that the Te Aroha and Waikato Clubs held their meetings on the first Saturday in March, which was not in the best interests of the local ; cluh. Te Aroha Club had for many years raced on the first Monday in March, and the Saturday preceding it, i but last year an alteration in the dates was necessitated by the Otai huhu Club holding its meeting at the end of February. The Waikato TrotI ting Club was allowed two days’ racing per annum and was selecting one Saturday In March and one in October If the two days’ trotting were to be ; held in October, the present clashing j would he avoided. The balance sheet was adopted. According to notice of motion Mr. Willcox moved that the rules be j amended, so that the secretary could I notify members of the closing of nomi- ! nations tor officers 21 days previous fo the annual meeting, voting by ballot j also to close at $.30 p.m.. instead of 9 p.m.. at the annual meeting.
