Demand for Gilt-Edge Stocks

AVERY firm market for gilt-edge securities continues to be one of the features on ’Change. The market for 41 per cent, free-of-income-tax Government Loans is particularly firm, holding at slightly over par.

Limited, held in Hamilton, the report and balance-sheet showed another year of healthy progress. The directors recommended the usual dividend or 8 per cent., on both issues of shares. The retiring directors, Messrs. A. A. Martin and C. Howard, were reelected. ♦ * * Dunlop - Perdriau Scrip Greater interest is being taken in Dunlop-Perdriau shares, and the market has a firming tendency. It is anticipated that the combined balancesheet of the amalgamated companies will show a very satisfactory position.
Market at Midday Tho banking group shows little change. Commercials of Australia hold yesterday’s improved market, leaving the midday call with a middle price of 30s. Woollens continue to register a weakening tendency, and sellers predominate. tellers of both issues of Wellingtons were not supported. Hayward’s Pictures were offered at 19s sd, without receiving support. Mining continues active with interest spread over a wide range. Activity in Coals Although the actual turnover has not been heavy, increased movement has been shown in the coal group. Grey Valleys are decidedly firmer, with buyers at this week’s improved market price of 27s failing to draw sellers below 30s. Renowns are active around 15s 9d. A buyer of Pukemiros came in this morning at 70s. Taupiris strengthened to leave tho midday call with a middle price of 29s Gd. Calls and Dividends Dividends— Due.
