RAILWAY LOSSES
AUSTRALIAN STATES SHOW DEFICITS WHAT REPORTS REVEAL Reed. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. The annual report of the South Australian Railways for the year shows an actual loss of £1,182,166. The Victorian Railways’ account for the financial year shows a deficit of £62,829. The annual report of the Railway Commissioners of New South Wales revealed a deficit of £1,039,000 on the past year’s operations. The tramways showed a loss of £9,343 compared with a profit of £27,000 in the previous year. The decrease in tramway passengers totalled 12,500,000.
