MIRAMAR RESIDENTS CLAIM COMPENSATION CITY COUNCIL BLAMED Press Association WELLINGTON, Tuesday. ! In connection with the recent flood- i ing of Miramar through the blockage ! of drains, or through the drains being j inadequate to cope with the volume j of water at the time, the following resolution was unanimously passed at a meeting of 500 residents at Miramar this evening: “That as the City Council is responsible for seeing that the open drains are kept clear, and that their officers ! were negligent in not doing so, they f being aware and warned of the situa- j tion, the council should compensate: i residents for any losses incurred j through the flooding and the officers ; concerned should be reprimanded.” i
