BANKRUPT DISAPPEARS
BORROWS £750 FROM FATHER-IN-LAW Press Association HAMILTON, Today. A claim against his son-in-law, Lawrence Edward Dwyer, was made by Dharle* Dalbeth, farmer, Horotiu, in the Supreme Court today for £750. Plaintiff said that Dwyer had cost him between £2,000 and £3,000, in addition to the sum claimed. Dwyer, early last year, having operated ser-vice-cars between Hamilton and Auckland. became insolvent and there was a large deficit. Creditors threatened prosecutoin on the grounds of negligence and extravagant living. They consented to withhold proceedings Provided a certain dividend was paid. Dwyer borrowed £750 from his father-in-law. promising to repay it in a fortnight with money from his uncle in Wanganui. He paid this suni to the assignee and obtained a stay of criminal proceedings. The loan was never repaid. Dwyer disappearing from the district after filing his defence to the Present suit. His counsel told the Court he was Unable to line! his client. Mr. Justice Ostler gave judgment for the full amount.
